That Week Last June is comprised of seven dresses meant to evoke the experiences that occurred at a particular time in my life. The week, with its’ definitive beginning and end, seemed a relevant format in which to present the material-- compressed, just as memory compresses past events.

I chose the dress as a means of expressing the escapades of that "week." It was a time of trying on new adventures and attitudes, just as one might put on and wear a new and unconventional outfit-- conscious of, but feigning oblivion to the perceptions of others. This work addresses gender and identity. It seeks to expose the discrepancy between exterior appearance and internal character, and also to reveal the humor present in thinly veiled deception.
